Is it PEACE or Proper Elevation?

The short answer, is that the company is called Proper Elevation, and our financial literacy curriculum is called the PEACE Program, which stands for Proper Education Always Creates Elevation.

The longer answer is that, in our heads, it’s kinda both. Ronique learned the PEACE acronym from a friend of his, who had a rough life, and used it to find a sense of purpose. We loved the story and the acronym so much, we wanted to name our company after it.

But it turns out the name “PEACE” was already taken! Go figure, right?

“Proper Elevation” began as a compromise, but we’ve grown to love it. Our mission is to help everyone find their Proper Elevation, one child and one community at a time.

But the PEACE acronym was too good to let go of, so it lives on as the name of our flagship after-school program, and the inspiration for our logo.

Is financial literacy the only thing you teach?

Right now, yes!

But our instructional model is very flexible. Once the PEACE program is up and running, we want to adapt it to cover other basic life skills.

The plans for future modules aren’t very fleshed out yet — we have our hands full developing our first curriculum! But if you want to throw some ideas our way, feel free to dream with us on Instagram.

I’m not a teacher or an artist. How can I get involved?

We’ve already received some requests for volunteer opportunities, which is amazing beyond words. We hear you, and we are rising to the occasion.

We will definitely have volunteer opportunities in the Spring of 2025, when we start teaching our pilot classes. And we are working on finding volunteer opportunities for people who don’t want to wait that long to pitch in. This is a problem we couldn’t be happier to have.
